- Today’s Gospel invites us to live in hope and to share what God has given us as we await Jesus’ return. What can your family do to live in joyful hope for Jesus’ return?
- Remind the family that your faithfulness and love is a reflection of God’s love for the world. Make a poster with a large circle in the center representing a mirror. Within the mirror, draw pictures or make a list of ways that your family can reflect God’s love within and beyond the household.
- Is there someone you know who is having trouble right now? What can you do to help that person persevere in faith?
- Go around the table and ask each family member what they would want to be doing if Jesus returned today. Would you live your life differently if you knew exactly when Jesus was coming? If so, how would your life change?
“It is my burning desire that, during this Jubilee, the Christian people may reflect on the corporal and spiritual works of mercy. It will be a way to reawaken our conscience, too often grown dull in the face of poverty. And let us enter more deeply into the heart of the Gospel where the poor have a special experience of God’s mercy. Jesus introduces us to these works of mercy in his preaching so that we can know whether or not we are living as his disciples.”
