Pope Francis has asked us to think about and to practice the works of mercy during this year. We found where Jesus talks about them in the Bible. We affixed corporate works of mercy in blue and revisited our example of Feed the Hungry in which we noted that one out of every nine children in the world eat the equivalent of five pretzels and drink two ounces of water as their only meal of the day. We affixed spiritual works of mercy in white.
Virtues trickle down over them all. They are good habits that help you be able to do the works of mercy. We learned about the three Theological (meaning they come directly from God) virtues that you receive like "superpowers" when you are baptized.
- Faith - helps us to believe in him and live as he wants us to live. We express our faith in the words of the Apostles' Creed.
- Hope - the trust that God will always be with us.
- Charity - helps us love God above all things and to love everyone else because God loves them. (This includes yourself).
